Curatorial Statement
My curatorial practice is an organic extension of my personal studio art process, rooted in an honest care for the context of how art is made, presented and seen. As a curator, I am dedicated to 'holding the space' and cultivating a nurturing, inclusive environment where artists can authentically express their works as profound, transformative journeys.
Simultaneously, I aim to engage the audience in art as a resonant experience, fostering learning, acceptance, and personal and cultural development. I am passionate about themes such as human connections, psychology, mental health, healing, spirituality, cultural dynamism, queer theory, feminism, decolonization, climate change, and our relationship with nature.
My curatorial approach aims to honor each artwork's unique integrity and narrative, fostering meaningful dialogues and connections between them. As a productional curator, I facilitate collaborative dialogue among artists, empowering them to dedicate time and space to create new works and encouraging conversations that enhance their awareness of the exhibition environment and surrounding artworks. I am particularly drawn to the process behind each artwork, recognizing that it extends beyond the final product.
While I appreciate art in various media, I am especially intrigued by how meaning emerges from the specific usage of materials, textures, and colors, and their relationship with the space and environment, particularly within socio-political and cultural contexts. Through thoughtful curation, I aim to unveil the depth and significance inherent in the creative processes.
